After a well earned night of sleep we woke up to a rainy day. Our local friends thanked us for bringing the rain, as South Africa is going through a harsh drought and just ended the driest year on record. The rain is impacting our schedule but it is not getting in the way of us making the best of this experience. After breakfast this morning we joined our discussion groups with our ALA buddies. That went to almost lunch time. In the afternoon we met to continue the BUILD work that we started back in the fall in Farmington. BUILD is a component of ALA’s signature program in Entrepreneurial Leadership and it is a design thinking strategy for innovation and development. An important part of our work here consists of advancing our own student projects following the BUILD strategy.
After our BUILD lab work we will be having some downtime followed by dinner. We will get together after dinner for a little reflection of the day.
Since we are expecting rain tomorrow again we are changing our plans for the day. We will be going to the Sterkfontein Caves and Maropeng Exhibition at the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site. This is the archaeological site where the earliest human remains have been excavated. We will be going with our ALA Chomies and we are looking forward to spending the day with them off campus.
