The African Leadership Academy kicks off each new term with Seminal Readings, which is a few days of close reading, deep thinking and meaningful discussion of influential texts. Our girls are joining this tradition of the Academy and participating fully in the Seminal Readings. They are shadowing their chommies throughout the day and they take part in the reading and discussions. The girls following the first year students are discussing around the topic of “Overcoming Preconceptions” which is not a topic foreign to us at Porter’s. Second year students are asked “What Is a Good Society?”
This is a way for us to get immersed in the life of the school and to understand better the ALA culture.
